In 1955, the LA Herald Examiner article called it "House in the Sky" but a generation later the unsparing verdure of bamboo claimed it a "House in the Forest. " Set down a gated drive, the profile and spirit of the main residence grow out of the quiet and privacy of the setting. Living areas on both levels provide extra-wide sliding doors to gardens, terraces, and courtyards. Movable panels open the kitchen to the main living/dining room. Three bedrooms, three baths, and two hearths complete the main house. The newer guest house overlooks the giant Koi pond and sleeping porch and has a bath and extra large closet. Giant bamboo shelters the sunny pool area with sculptural benches, lounge areas, and modern ramada. More than a domicile; a true retreat.
